On the 13th June Year 2 went on our trip to Chatham Dockyard for a Pirate Day.
We went on the trip dressed as pirates, with the tie-dye t-shirts that we had made the previous week – everyone looked really good!
During the day each class took part in three activities, these were – Rope making, where each class learnt about how ropes are made and then we had a go at making our own rope which we turned into a very long skipping rope. Acting out the story of Grace Darling, where everyone became part of the story, from being Grace Darling and her family to acting as the survivors of the shipwreck. The third activity was to visit a Pirate on board her ship HMS Gannet, she showed us her treasure haul and told us some interesting facts about being a pirate.
It was a super trip and everyone enjoyed themselves. The children were all really well behaved and lots of members of the public said how polite they were.
