On 20th June, two groups of children from Year 5 and 6 participated in the Finals of the Kent K’nex Challenge, an engineering project run by STEM, after they won the qualifying heats at Great Chart. Competing against sixteen other schools, the teams were challenged to design and construct a motorised vehicle which would be capable of transporting animals out of a burning rainforest! After two hours, each team was judged on their vehicle’s design and how well it performed when tested in front of all of the other competitors. Whilst our teams did not win, both were commended by the judges for their designs and team work and without a doubt they were great ambassadors for our school.
