“Before half term EYFS went on their school trip to Tyland Barn to help them with their topic on minibeasts.  They had an enjoyable day minibeast hunting and pond dipping.  They looked for minibeasts in the trees, they swept long grass, dug in compost beds, looked under logs in dark places.  They found beetles, woodlice, spiders, centipedes, worms, flies, slugs and much more.  In the pond they identified tadpoles, caddisfly larvae, water beetles, newts, raft spiders.  We also saw many dragonflies.  They had a tiring but enjoyable day”
