On Thursday 17th March, the children in Year 2 were lucky enough to have a visit from Arne, who came to teach us songs and dances from Africa. This links to our forthcoming term 5 topic which is Africa.
Each class had a one hour workshop session with Arne, where he told everyone about the traditional African instruments that he had brought with him. He first demonstrated how to play each one and then the children were allowed to have a go.
Arne taught each class something different – either a song, a dance or a combination of both and these were practised until they were perfect!
In the afternoon, everyone met up for a quick rehearsal and then each class performed to an audience of parents.
It was a super day and all of the children in Year 2 really enjoyed playing the instruments and singing the songs.
